Image illustrating page Regulation of the Swedish implementation of INSPIRE
The Act and Ordinance on spatial information regulates the Swedish implementation of the INSPIRE-directive.

The Act on spatial information (SFS 2010:1767) aims to establish an infrastructure which makes it easier to access and exchange digital geodata. The infrastructure will comprise useful geodata, for businesses and measures which affects health and environment for individuals.

The Ordinance on spatial information (SFS 2010:1770) presents the authorities with information responsibility. LantmÀteriet has the task of co-ordinating the Swedish infrastructure for access and exchange of geodata.

Making geodata available

The Act on spatial information requires the authorities with information responsibility to make geodata and services available to everyone. This implies that:

  • the public will be able to search, find and down-load geodata via Internet,
  • authorities with information responsibility will provide metadata and geodata to one another via so called data-sharing,
  • search and display via services will be free of charge.
