INSPIRE
INSPIRE - a European infrastructure for geodata
INSPIRE stands for Infrastructure for Spatial Information in Europe. INSPIRE is an EU directive which establishes binding rules to create an infrastructure for geodata within EU.
The aim is to make easier access to official geodata - to improve conditions for collaboration in the field of the environment - via Internet-based services. Authorities will be able to exchange data more efficiently.
Rules for exchange, access and use
The content of the directive are common rules for exchange, access and use of official geodata and services. This implies that authorities with an information responsibility according to INSPIRE, have to adjust their data and services.
INSPIRE legislation
The INSPIRE directive has been implemented into Swedish law. The Act and Ordinance on spatial information regulates the Swedish implementation of INSPIRE.
Authorities with information responsibility
Lantmäteriet together with the authorities with an information responsibility - according to the Swedish ordinance on spatial information - have the responsibility to implement the INSPIRE-directive in Sweden.
Authorities with information responsibility imply authorities which, according to INSPIRE, are obliged to make their information accessible. The Swedish ordinance on spatial information presents the authorities with information responsibility and applicable information.
Lantmäteriet is responsible for coordination and support of the national implementation of INSPIRE.
INSPIRE Working Group supports the implementation
The Geodata Advisory Board has initiated a working group for INSPIRE-issues. The group is represented by authorities with information responsibility in accordance with INSPIRE. The aim of the group is to support and coordinate the Swedish implementation of INSPIRE.
INSPIRE Norden - a network for experience-sharing
A Nordic network has been established for INSPIRE-issues. The network is represented by the Nordic INSPIRE Contact Points together with experts within different areas. The aim is experience-sharing and exchange of information, as well as joint Nordic statements before meetings with the European Commission.
